The August Heritage meeting will be on 12 August at 6:00 pm. We will not be able to have our potluck buffet so please bring your own picnic dinner.
We can gather and fellowship from a safe distance. Our meeting will follow at 7:00 pm. Masks are required and tables will be set up for appropriate social distancing. We have much to discuss and we look forward to seeing you there!
Fraternally, Becky and BJ
We hope to have Mark Nelson join us for our heritage meeting sometime in the future.
Mark Nelson will be presenting on the 99th Battalion (separate) aka "Viking Battalion" which was comprised of Norwegian Americans during WWII to assist in the liberation of Norway from Nazi Germany.
Mark's great uncle Lars L. Larson was a member of the 99th who trained as ski troopers at Camp Hale, CO prior to being deployed in Normandy, June 22, 1944 and fighting their way across Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge and eventually arriving in Norway to escort Nazi soldiers out of Norway.
Mark will share information on Lars, his family who emigrated from Ål, Hallingdal, Norway and he will have a large display of items brought back from the war in Lars's Army footlocker.
Come and visit. Our meetings are the 2nd Wednesday of each month except for July. Meetings begin at 7:00 pm. Often the meeting will include a special guest or program, with tasteful snacks following the meeting.
